Intent

The publish action validates content, rejects invalid blocks and duplicate slugs, keeps drafts hidden, and makes published articles visible atomically.

Acceptance criteria

An invalid block prevents the publish action
A duplicate slug returns a conflict response
A draft's public URL returns 404 before publication
Publishing makes the article visible atomically

Explicitly out of scope

Draft editor validation and save behaviour (E06-S02)
Article server-side rendering (E07-S03)

Test plan

Automated tests cover each acceptance criterion end to end
Sprint 1 critical E2E journey confirms publish then open public article

Rollback note

Revert publish action code and redeploy; no schema change beyond the publish state field
